(KNZA)--Construction is expected to start late this fall on a new municipal swimming pool in the Jefferson County community of Valley Falls.
That comes after voters Tuesday approved a one-percent sales tax to fund construction of the estimated $1.5 million project on a vote of 207 to 85.
The sales tax is to take effect January 1st.
The new 3,900-square-foot pool is to be constructed south of Davis Field, at the intersection of Francis and Sycamore Streets.
The new pool is projected to open in the summer of 2017.
Voters in the Brown County community of Horton also approved a one-percent sales tax Tuesday for the construction of a new municipal pool.
It’s to take effect January 1st and be in effect for 20 years.
