(KNZA)--A Topeka man charged in a Jackson County road rage case dating back to 2014 has been sentenced to more than 2 years in prison.
Jackson County Attorney Shawna Miller tells MSC News that 52-year-old Cory Huff was sentenced Friday to a total of 26 months in prison on two counts of criminal discharge of a firearm at an occupied vehicle.
Miller says the prison sentence is to be followed by 12-months supervised release. In addition, she says Huff will have to register as a violent offender for 15 years.
Huff pleaded no contest to the charges in May. In exchange for the plea, four counts of attempted second-degree murder and one count of reckless driving were dismissed.
Huff was arrested the evening of December 31st, 2014 after motorists along U.S. 75 Highway in southern Jackson County reported a man firing a pistol. No injuries were reported in the incident, which Miller called a random act of road rage.
