USD 415 Bond Improvement Projects on Schedule
07/14/2016

(KNZA)--The bond improvement projects this summer at Hiawatha schools remain on schedule despite a union strike that developed last week.

District Maintenance Director Matt Cluck provided an update to the USD 415 Board of Education this week.

Cluck said the union went on strike last Monday and they were down about 60 workers.  Fortunately, he says the union came to a settlement and the workers returned two days later.

He said they were already a week ahead of schedule, so they didn’t lose too much time.

Cluck also told the Board the walk-in refrigerator/freezer at the elementary school, which was scheduled to be replaced in 2017, recently broke down and will need to be replaced before school starts.  He said the new unit should be up and running in the next couple of weeks.

In other business, the Board re-elected Pete Rosa as board president for 2016-17 and elected Denise Elffner as vice-president.

The Board also accepted the resignation of Hiawatha Elementary School counselor Tom Jones, effective at the end of the 2016-17 school year.
