USD 430 Superintendent to Retire

(KNZA)--The superintendent of the South Brown County schools will retire at the end of the 2016-17 school year.

Following an executive session Monday evening, The USD 430 Board of Education accepted the resignation of Dr. Steve Davies, effective June 30th, 2017.  At that time, Dr. Davies will have served as superintendent for 16 years.

The Board also accepted the retirement resignations of Board Clerk Jean Ann Becker and Administrative Assistant Alice Smith, effective at the end of the 2016-17 school year.  Smith will be retiring after 39 years with the district and Becker after 25 years.

The board also accepted the resignations of Corey Thomas as Horton High assistant football coach and Brenda Baker as Horton Elementary School paraprofessional.

Supplemental contracts were approved with Max Mickunas as Horton High School assistant football coach and Mark Ross as Horton High School head golf coach.  Mickunas will be serving as the new Horton Elementary School physical education teacher and Ross as the new Horton High School athletic director.

During their first meeting of the new school year, the Board elected officers.  Tim McClaskey was re-elected as board president, and Jason Smith was elected as vice-president for 2016-17.
