(MSC News)--The Kansas Highway Patrol is mourning the tragic shooting of five police officers in Texas.
According to a statement posted on the Patrol's Facebook page, members of the Patrol will wear a black mourning band across their badges while civilian employees will wear black ribbon pins.
That comes following Thursday's nights killing of the five officers, identified as members of both the Dallas Police Department and the Dallas Area Rapid Transit Department. Seven others were injured.
According to the Associated Press, the shooting was committed by a sniper, who was later killed.
Three others are also in custody.
The deaths came during a demonstration being held following the killing of two black men in police shootings, with one occurring in Louisiana and the other in Minnesota.
