(KNZA)--A Wathena man will stand trial on a charge of aggravated battery in connection with an altercation in April that left the victim needing surgery for facial injuries.
The Kansas Chief reports 37-year-old Ryan Smith was bound over to Doniphan County District last week on the felony charge following his preliminary hearing.
Arraignment was scheduled for July 13th.
Smith was arrested April 17th after a Doniphan County Sheriff’s deputy responded to a farm about five miles north of Wathena near 220th and St. Columbus Roads.
He is accused of attacking 33-year-old J.T. Euler while he was in the cab of a tractor at the location planting corn after confronting Euler about who had permission to hunt on the property.
Smith remains free on bond.
