Two Injured in Buchanan Co MO Wreck
07/06/2016

(KNZA)--A two-vehicle Wednesday morning wreck on a Buchanan County, Missouri highway sent two St. Joseph residents to the hospital.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says it happened on Route O about three miles south of St. Joseph shortly after 11:00.

The Patrol says 34-year-old Brandon Shafer was eastbound when his dump truck traveled partly off the south side of the roadway and began to slide.  The vehicle came back onto the roadway and crossed the center line, striking a southbound trash truck driven by 63-year-old Albert Reinert head-on.

Reinert was transported  to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph with serious injuries.  A passenger in the dump truck, 40-year-old Donald Henderson, was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.  Shafer was not hurt.

The Patrol says all occupants were properly restrained.
