Federal Funds For Local Rain Damaged Roads
12/29/2015

(KAIR)--Heavy rains last summer left Doniphan County hit hard, with some roads forced to close for a time due to flooding that ultimately caused lasting damage.

The County this week received good news, as federal funds to help cover the cost of those repairs come in.

The assistance is found in a partial payment from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to help fund small projects related to the roadwork made necessary by the rains that came in May and June of this year.

The total payment received, as told to the County Commission during their regular meeting this week, is more than $50,000.

The funds will be used to reimburse the Road Department as the repair work on the roadways is completed.
