(KMZA)--Pottawatomie County authorities have been kept busy by a rash of burglaries reported in recent days.
That includes a late Christmas Eve call of a vehicle burglary in progress, on William Drive, in Manhattan.
The vehicle's owner spotted someone inside, with the suspect fleeing when Sheriff's Deputies arrived and approached him.
A vehicle of interest was spotted during an extensive search of the area, assisted by Riley County Police, and that vehicle led authorities to 211 Walnut Street in Wamego.
Sheriff Greg Riat says it was there that 26-year-old David Graham Phillips was taken into custody for burglary and attempted theft. Later on Christmas Day, a search warrant was served at the residence and items reported as stolen, as well as drug paraphernalia, were seized. The search also led to information regarding a second vehicle burglary, allegedly committed around the same time as the first, and blamed on Phillips.
He has since bonded out of jail.
Riat says two prior residential daytime burglaries, one just east of Wamego and the other just west, both occurring on December 22nd, also remain under investigation.
Authorities continue to search for white regular cab, flat bed, pickup truck, spotted in the area of both burglaries.
Anyone with information should contact the Sheriff's Office at 785-457-3353.
