(MSC News)--Three local area communities are named on a list of eleven Kansas towns cited as having the best “Main Streets” in the state.

The list was published last week by the website onlyinyourstate.com

Included locally are Atchison, Hiawatha, and Wamego.

Atchison is included in 7th place, listed based on the city's numerous museums and historic sites, as well as the numerous events that are held annually, including Ladies Night Out and the Amelia Earhart Festival.

Hiawatha made the list in 8th place due to what the article's author calls “fabulous downtown restaurants,” as well as the Frances Sewell Plamann History Center.

The Pottawatomie County community of Wamego is listed in 4th place on the list, with the Oz Museum and Winery, Toto's Tacoz, and Poppyfield Gallery all named as reasons to visit the city.

Only In Your State is a website that highlights attractions and unique features of communities across the nation.
