John Michael Devosha

(KAIR)--A Kansas City, Kansas man, who led local authorities on a multi-county pursuit in October of 2013 that ended near Sabetha, is going to prison for 15-years.

According to the office of U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom, 25-year-old John Michael Devosha was sentenced Monday, with his time in the federal prison to be served consecutively to a 10-year sentence in another federal case.

Devosha, in August, pleaded guilty to one count of carjacking and one count of using a firearm in furtherance of carjacking.

The federal charges stem from Devosha pointing a gun at a woman and pushing her out of the driver's side door when stealing her car in Kansas City, Kansas on October 22nd, 2013. That came after he crashed a stolen pick-up truck, which he abandoned, and fled on foot to find another vehicle. Federal prosecutors say that's when he came across his victim, who was stalled in traffic congestion caused by the wreck of the pick-up.

The car Devosha is accused of driving during the local 45-mile pursuit three days later along U.S. Highway 75 is identified as the one stolen in Kansas City, Kansas.

Among agencies commended by Grissom for playing a role in the apprehension of Devosha are Potawatomi Tribal Police, Holton, Sabetha, Kickapoo, and Sac and Fox Police, and the Sheriff's Offices of Brown, Jefferson and Jackson Counties.
