Johnson-Brock Superintendent Contract Extended

(KLZA)-- Following an executive session to evaluate the job performance of Johnson-Brock School District Superintendent Jeff Koehler Monday night, the Board of Education voted to extend the contract with Koehler through the 2018-19 school years. The contract calls for a $120,000 salary for the 2016-17 school year and a $124,000 salary for the 2017-18 school year. The 2018-19 school year salary will be negotiated.  

In other business the Johnson-Brock Board voted to increase the amount of the school districts umbrella insurance coverage from $2-million to $5-million with the Casey Agency.  

Principal Lucas Dalinghaus congratulated Sylvia Smith for being selected as one of five finalists for the “Outstanding FBLA Advisor” Award.

Superintendent Koehler shared information on new technology he would like to implement. The SectorNow program utilizes a 55-inch touch screen television and shares school history and alumni information. 

Koehler also discussed acquiring 40 chrome books at a cost of $269 each. He also reported that he is looking for grant funding to start an after school program for kids in Brock and Talmage. Peru State College students would assist in the program.
