(KNZA)--An Elwood, Kansas woman has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for her role in the stabbing death of a St. Joseph, Missouri man in April.
The St. Joseph News Press reports 44-year-old Kelli Hoard was sentenced Monday in a Buchanan County courtroom on a charge of second-degree murder. She pleaded guilty in October to the charge.
Hoard was among three charged in the stabbing death of 28-year-old Richard Berry, whose body was found in the Third Fork of the Platte River nera Easton, Missouri on April 25th.
Authorities believe he was taken to the remote location in a robbery attempt. Berry was stabbed multiple times and then dumped into the river.
25-year-old Sean Liechti, of St. Joseph, was sentenced in October to ten years in prison on a charge of second-degree murder in the case.
The third defendant, 22-year-old St. Joseph resident Primalton Peterson III, faces a jury trial in January on charges of first-degree murder, armed criminal action and abandonment of a corpse.
