LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Nebraska officials say they're looking for ways to recover more than $54,000 that was spent on lethal injection drugs from a supplier in India.
A spokesman for Gov. Pete Ricketts said Friday that Ricketts has directed Nebraska's corrections department to review its purchase agreement with Harris Pharma.
Ricketts announced last week that the state would stop trying to obtain the drug until after a statewide vote on capital punishment next November. Taylor Gage, the governor's public relations director, says it's unclear at this time what recourse the state has to recover the money.
State officials have struggled to import the drugs because the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has said there's no way to do so legally.
Some lawmakers have said they doubt the state will get its money back.
