(KMZA)--An SUV crash in Pottawatomie County leads to three arrests, including that of a fugitive.
It happened Tuesday morning, shortly before 9:30, when the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office responded to the wreck at the intersection of Appleyard Road and Gillaspie Road, just west of Wamego.
Sheriff Greg Riat says the SUV had gone off the road, and into a fence, on the north side of Gillsapie Road, but the driver denied being injured when approached by a Deputy.
As the Deputy was the investigating, the driver fled on foot into a neighboring pasture, but was eventually taken into custody a half-mile north Highway 24, near Vineyard Road, following a search assisted by Wamego Police and the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism.
The suspect is identified as 19-year-old Patrick Burelle, of Fort Riley.
The investigation continued, leading authorities to learn that Barrett Stokes, wanted by the Kansas Department of Corrections, was connected to the SUV.
Stokes was located at a Wamego Hotel, where investigators allege he was trying to flee from the back of the hotel.
Deputies and Wamego Police were able to stop Stokes as he attempted his getaway, taking him into custody during the noon hour.
A third suspect, 18-year-old Cindy Blanco, was later arrested by Wamego Police on charges of aiding and abetting a known fugitive. She's believed to be a resident of Manhattan.
Stokes was taken into custody for the outstanding Kansas Department of Corrections warrant, while Burrelle faces charges of driving while suspended, providing false information on an accident report, and obstruction.
All three were booked into the Pottawatomie County Jail.
Bond has been set only for Burrelle, who's held on $10,000.
