(KNZA)--An 8-year-old Troy girl was killed Sunday afternoon when the vehicle she was driving left a Doniphan County road and overturned.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says killed in the wreck on 175th Road about 2 miles west of Wathena was Cadence Orcutt.
The Patrol says Orcutt was westbound in a Chevy Cobalt when for an unknown reason she lost control of the vehicle. The car left the roadway and went down an embankment where it overturned, landing on it’s top.
Orcutt, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her grandfather, 56-year-old St. Joseph resident Dennis Meers, was a passenger in the vehicle. He was transported to Mosaic Life Center in St. Joseph for treatment of possible injuries.
The wreck, which was reported around 3:30, remains under investigation.
