Attempted Utility Scams Reported in Auburn Neb
11/20/2015

(KLZA)-- Multiple people contacted the Auburn Chamber of Commerce Friday saying they have received phone calls from someone claiming to be with their utility company.

The caller did not speak English well, and have alternately said to be with Knoxville Utilities or OPPD. As usual, the callers are requesting money immediately or the customer will have their services turned off. This is a scam.

Please do not give them any details, financial or otherwise to anyone calling and claiming to be with your local utility provider.

If you are concerned about your utility account, or want to verify the caller's location, you can always request to call them back. In Auburn, the Board of Public Works can be reached at 402-274-4981.
