(KMZA)--A partnership between the state, the city, and the local school district, is intended to provide safety to Marysville pedestrians.
That comes through an application to the Kansas Department of Transportation to include pedestrian-activated beacons on each side of the highway, at Walnut and Highway 77, and at Spring Street and Highway 77, in Marysville.
The matter was discussed recently by the Marysville USD 364 Board of Education, with the Board approving a motion to work with the City of Marysville on the grant application.
Total cost of the installation of the beacons is $123,500, with more than $87,000 to be covered by the grant funds.
That means the rest would be paid through local funds, with the school district, and the city, to fund around $18,000 each to cover the remaining cost.
