The County Commission Monday approved the purchase of 30 radios from Haug Communications of Seneca for a cost of nearly $22,000.
County Road and Bridge Supervisor Dennis Ronnebaum said the current radios are old and need replacing.
In other business, the Commission talked with the Jackson County Commission by phone about a bridge located on the Nemaha/Jackson County line on Y Road south of Wetmore that needs replaced.
The low bid from Reese Construction, of Scandia, came in at nearly $190,000 for an alternate design. The engineer’s estimate for the project is $220,000.
Jackson County Commissioners will review the alternate design and contact the Nemaha County Commission when they’ve made a decison.
