Richardson Co Board Approves Road Dept. Purchases

(KLZA)-- Richardson County Commissioners last week approved the purchase of two pieces of equipment for the Road Department.  

The first, a 2015 Eager Beaver lowboy trailer from Technology Inc. from Lake Mary, Florida at a cost of $60,590. The second purchase was a 2015 Hyundi wheel loader from Rueter’s of Council Bluffs, Iowa at a cost of $149,900.

Commissioners also approved a contract with William VonSeggern to continue as Richardson County Public Defender from January 1, 2016 through December 31, 2017 at the same terms and condition as the current contract, which pays $48,000 per year. 

The purchase of a color copier for the Assessors Office was approved and culvert materials for a FEMA project were approved for purchase from Contech Engineered Solutions of Lincoln in an amount of $13,673. 

Pam Scott, Clerk of the District Court, who serves as the secretary to the Richardson County Visitor Committee met with the Board regarding a decision to approve an amount of $125 per meeting to be paid to the secretary for carrying out the duties of the Committee.  A formal contract is to be considered during the next Commissioners meeting.  

A public hearing was held to determine if a public nuisance existed along county road right-of-ways. Grant Reynolds attended the hearing concerning a the right-of-way along land he owns. Commissioners ruled Reynolds to be in compliance with the requirements of the law after he cut brush back. 

Merlin Gruber did not appear at the hearing. Gruber has removed some brush according to Highway Superintendent Scott Huppert, but he noted more needs to be removed to be in compliance.  Gruber will have 30 days to abate the public nuisance.

Two change orders were approved for the construction of the Jail/Law Enforcement Center.  One for relocating the Rural Water District line for $1,324 and one for receptacles and wiring from cells to electrical panels in an amount of $3,095.
