(KNZA)--Plans are underway for the annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner in Hiawatha.
The free dinner will take place Thursday, November 26th at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center at 210 Lodge Road from noon to 1, with delivery service beginning at 11.
The dinner is sponsored by the First Baptist Church Mission Board, the Melster Family, and other community volunteers.
Helen Melster says her family began the tradition more than 30 years ago when they operated a local restaurant.
Organizer Debbie Roland says volunteers are needed to help with this year's Community Thanksgiving Dinner. Roland says they especially need volunteers to prepare turkey's and make pumpkin pies.
If you would like to help you can call Roland at 742-7201. To make a reservation for the dinner or food donation for the dinner you can call 740-FOOD ( 3663).
Monetary donations are also welcome. They can be sent to the church.
