(KNZA)--A Sabetha man accused of child sex crimes in Jackson County has entered into a plea agreement, canceling a jury trial that had been set in the case.
25-year-old Daniel Thompson pleaded “ no contest” this week in Jackson County District Court to one count of sexual exploitation of a child. In exchange for the plea, a second count was dismissed.
Sentencing was set for December 23rd.
Thompson had been scheduled to go on trial starting November 17th.
He was arrested in May after the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department served a search warrant on his residence following an investigation focused on child pornography and the exploitation of 16-year-old Jackson County child.
Thompson remains in the Jackson County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
