Everest Teen Sentenced In Battery Case
10/30/2015

(KAIR)--An Everest teen, convicted of charges stemming from an injury wreck in June, has been sentenced in the case.

19-year-old Brandon Olberding appeared in Atchison County District Court Friday morning, where he was sentenced to eighteen months of probation, with an underlying sentence of eight months in prison on a charge of aggravated battery, and six months in jail, with all but two days suspended, on a charge of driving under the influence. The sentences were ordered to be run concurrently with each other.

Restitution of nearly $3,800 to 19-year-old Megan Galley of Atchison, who was injured in the wreck, was also ordered by the judge, and will be split between Olberding and his co-defendant, 19-year-old Zakkery Hollands of Effingham.

The wreck occurred on June 28th  on Highway Nine near Monrovia. Olberding and Hollands were allegedly driving dirt bikes without headlights, and collided head on.

Hollands has also requested that Olberding pay him restitution for the damage to his bike, and a hearing for that matter was set for November 20th.
