Hiawatha Halloween Frolic This Weekend

(KNZA)--Nine girls are vying to be crowned as the 2015 Hiawatha Halloween queen as part of the 101st Annual Halloween Frolic.

The crowning ceremony will take place Saturday evening at 6:15 in the Brown County Historical Society Memorial Auditorium.

The candidates include:
Miss Hiawatha---Daryan Small
Miss Powhattan—Mykah Barnes
Miss Whiting—Alexandria Bontrager
Miss Seneca—Karen Rivera-Cobia
Miss Falls City—Bailey Bindle
Miss White Cloud—Christina Norton
Miss Onaga—Annie Marten
Miss Corning—Karrie VanWinkle
Miss Horton--Reba Kreider    

Other Halloween Frolic activities Saturday include the afternoon parade at 3:00 and evening parade at 7:00.  This year’s parade theme is “ Halloween 2115—100 years into the future.”

Hiawatha will hold its citywide Trick-or-Treat night Friday evening, with the Business Trick-or-Treat taking place from 3:30 to 5:00 that afternoon.

Also, Little Hands Daycare Center will hold its 3rd Annual Trunk-or-Treat event, beginning at 3:30 Friday afternoon at 7th and Oregon.  Then starting at 5:00, free hot dogs will be served at the Fisher Center parking lot, with more Trunk or Treating at Little Hands located at 200 East Lodge Road along with face painting and games.

In addition, the Brown County Sheriff’s Department will hold their 8th annual Trick-or-Treat Night Friday evening at the Sheriff’s office at 709 Utah Street. This year the staff will be dressed up as characters from the movie "Despicable Me."  They will provide goodies bags filled with safety information, pencils, glow sticks, stickers and more.
