Atchison Approves City Shop Construction Project
10/22/2015

(KAIR)--The Atchison City Commission has taken another step towards improving an important part of the city shop.

Commissioners, during a meeting earlier this week, unanimously approved a construction contract for approximately $62,000 with Atchison Construction to improve the shop's restroom. City Public Works and Utilities Director Justin Pregont says the upgrades will make significant improvements to the current restroom, which has been deemed inadequate for the shop's needs. The new restroom will be a “small addition on the north side of our building. It's going to have two toilet stalls, two urinals, two sinks and an emergency shower.”

Pregont adds that funding for the project has already been addressed. He says that “this is something that was budgeted in our 2015 CIP. The bids came in positively, we are under budget on the project thus far. Things are progressing well, and we are excited to get it started.”

Pregont says that construction will start in the next couple of weeks, and should take approximately ninety days to complete.
