Funds Raised to Restore Former Frankfort School
10/20/2015

(KMZA)--A fund raising campaign to help in the restoration of the former Frankfort Grade School was a big success.

The Frankfort Development Trust has announced they not only met, but exceeded their goal, raising more than $39,000.  Donations of more than $16,000 were received on the final fundraising day, September 30th.

The funds raised will allow the group to replace the porch on the former school building located at 400 North  Locust Street in Frankfort. Earlier this year, the floor of the porch was removed due to safety concerns. The porch replacement will coincide with a roof repair, both brightening up the façade of the building and securing its safety through the elements.

The building, which was built in 1902-03, was used as a school until 1996 when it was sold to private individuals.  While in private ownership, it fell into disrepair.

The Frankfort Development Trust, a non-profit 501c3 organization, obtained ownership in 2013 and has been working to restore the building.
