(KNZA)--A Holton woman is in custody, accused of stealing two vehicles in Brown County.
19-year-old Shelby Hopkins faces two counts of felony theft in the separate cases.
She turned herself in to authorities on September 2nd on a Brown County warrant in connection with the theft of a Chevy Suburban stolen from downtown Hiawatha on July 30th. The vehicle was recovered the following day in Horton.
Hopkins was identified as a suspect in the case after she was seen on video surveillance at a Missouri convenience store allegedly using a debit card that had been left inside the vehicle.
Hopkins posted bond in the case, but failed to appear for a preliminary hearing on September 30th.
The following day, Hopkins was taken into custody after a car was reported stolen in Horton. The 1993 Saturn was recovered in Goff, and Hopkins was detained by Nemaha County authorities.
She made her first appearance related to the new case in a Brown County court room Friday.
A preliminary hearing in both cases is now set for Wednesday.
Hopkins remains in the Brown County Jail on a total bond of $150,000.
