More Counterfeit Cash Found In Hiawatha
09/28/2015

(KNZA)--Although an arrest was made earlier this month in connection with counterfeit cash found in Hiawatha, fake bills are continuing to circulate in the community.

That word from Police Chief John Defore who says one case of fake cash was discovered last week by a local bank after being passed at a local restaurant while other fake bills were also reported Monday, including a phony $50 found by a local bank after it was passed at a local convenience store.

Arrested September 11th in connection with the circulation of the counterfeit cash was 32-year-old Jeffrey Kosman. Defore says it's believed the bills are related to the investigation that led to his apprehension. The latest discovery means awareness is still needed when accepting bills in Hiawatha and the investigation is ongoing.

Kosman, who is charged with three felony count of making false information, is to appear in a Brown County courtroom on October 28th for a preliminary hearing.

Kosman, from Kansas City, Kansas, remains in the Brown County Jail, held on a $75,000 bond in connection with the counterfeit case, and a bond of $25,000 on an unrelated felony theft case.
