(KLZA)-- The Auburn, Nebraska City Council heard another update on the proposed West Area waterline project. The estimate to build the line continues to climb. No action was taken.
In other business, seven properties were declared a nuisance by resolution. Included were 2209 and 2209 ½ M Street, 1211 14th Street; 1902 P Street; 1317 P Street; 2506 O Street; 1123 13th Street; and 1414 Q Street.
Franchise agreements were approved. One with Time Warner Cable for 10 years for television service with a 5% franchise fee. The other was with Auburn 1 Fiber for 15 years to provide fiber optic networking to the entire community. The franchise fee will be 5%. Construction on the private fiber network is to begin immediately.
A group called Creating Family Choices met with the Council seeking funding for a gambling awareness program. The group asked for $7,500 in keno funds to pay for a person to make people aware of the problems created by an addiction to gambling. The request for funding was tabled by the Council.
