(KNZA)--The Doniphan County Commission has agreed to lower the speed limit on a county road in the Wathena area.
County residents Phillip Brown and Ashley Church met with the Commission this week to request that the speed limit on Sheridan Road be permanently lowered to 35-miles-an hour. The two shared with the Board a list of twenty-eight residents that live along the road in agreement.
The Commission had voted last month to remove the temporary 35-mile-an-hour speed limit on the road, which had been used as a detour while Monument Road was closed for repairs.
Commissioner Jerry McKernan said the speed limit postings on Monument, Mesquito Creek and Treece Roads are all 35-miles-an-hour.
Following discussion, the Commission voted unanimously to post Sheridan Road at 35-miles-an-hour.
