(KNZA)--Jackson County District Judge Michael Ireland will be laid to rest Wednesday.
Ireland died Saturday at Topeka’s Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center at the age of 66.
He was transported to the hospital last Wednesday after suffering a heart attack at the Jackson County Courthouse.
Ireland had served as 2nd Judicial District Judge since August 2006. Prior to the appointment, he served as Jackson County Attorney for about 16 years and had his own private law practice in Holton for many years.
A funeral mass for Ireland will be held Wednesday morning at 10:30 at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Holton. Burial will follow in the Holton Cemetery.
The Mercer Funeral Home in Holton is handling the arrangements.
The family will greet friends Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 at the funeral home.
