(KNZA)--A St. Joseph man accused of killing his cousin early this month has waived his preliminary hearing.

The St. Joseph News Press reports 32-year-old Charles Coats Jr. appeared in a Buchanan County Courtroom Thursday with his attorney.

Coats is charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of Jason Ginn, of St. Joseph, on August 1st.

The shooting occurred in the 300 block of South 15th Street in St. Joseph following what police believed to be an ongoing dispute between the two men.

An autopsy showed Ginn suffered four gunshot wounds and died from a gunshot wound to the head.

Arraignment is scheduled for September 24th. Coats is being held without bond.
