Richardson Co Commissioners Review Budget Items

(KLZA)-- Richardson County Commissioners reviewed the 2015-16 Fiscal Year Budget proposal when they met Tuesday.  

The Board approved the additional 1% budget authority for the next fiscal year and set the date for the public hearing on the budget for Tuesday, September 15th at 11 a-m. The date to finalize the tax rate at a different amount than the previous year was also set for September 15th at 11:15 a-m.  

Tylene Windle with the Emergency Management Department met with the Board regarding an annual salary increase expected to be approved for Courthouse employees beginning January 1, 2016. Commissioners said they had expressed to Emergency Management Director Brian Dixon during the review of the Department budget that since the department’s positions had been given a substantial salary increase in February of 2015, a further salary increase in 2016 would probably not be considered. 

EDGE Executive Director Beckie Cromer presented the annual request for continued funding from Richardson County for the economic development organization in the amount of $25,000.  The County has been providing $20,000 in funding and will take the request into consideration as part of the budget process. 

Representatives of the City of Auburn including City Attorney Angelo Ligouri and Auburn Board of Public Works Director Dave Hunter met with the Board and County Attorney Doug Merz to discuss an agreement between Richardson County and the City of Auburn for use of county road right-of-way for the placement of utility lines.  No action was taken. 

A purchase order was approved in the amount of $6,308 was approved for repairs to the radio antenna at the Humboldt tower that was damaged during an August 8th storm. Insurance will cover more than $5,800 of the cost.
