(KLZA)-- Do you need to get rid of those old cleansers under your sink or that left over paint cluttering up your shelves? How about those florescent light bulbs taking up space in your garage?
If so, gather up all your household hazardous waste materials and bring them to one of the five collection sites in Southeast Nebraska Friday and Saturday.
The process is easy! You don’t even have to get out of the car! Let one of the Five Rivers RC&D staff and volunteers dispose of it for you!
The events will start in Auburn Behind City Hall, 1101 J St. on Friday from 8:00 a-m to 10:30 a-m.
Next stop on Friday will be in Falls City at the City Parking Lot by Prichard Auditorium and will run from 12:30 p-m to 2:30 p-m.
Five Rivers RC&D will conclude the 1st day of collections at 4:00 p-m in Pawnee City at the County Shop-342 5th St. The event will run from 4 p-m until 6 p-m.
Five Rivers will be in Tecumseh from 8 a-m to 10 a-m on Saturday. The household hazardous waste materials will be collected at the County Shop – 813 N. 1st Street.
Items which will be accepted include old paint, pesticides, antifreeze, herbicides, cleaning chemicals, fluorescent light bulbs, yard and garden chemicals. Other items not accepted include tires, electronic equipment, appliances, PCBs, Picric Acid, Science Lab materials, radioactive materials or biological hazards.
There is no charge, however a $5.00 donation per household is requested to help cover costs not covered by grant funding. Financing was provided through the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality.
