Falls City Council Approves Budget Items

(KLZA)-- The Falls City Council members unanimously approved two items for the 2015-16 Fiscal Year Budget Monday night. 

Each year the City is allowed to increase the budget by a state mandated 2.5-percent. A local council may also approve by a super-majority vote an additional 1-percent in allowable growth. City Administrator Gary Jorn requested the additional budget authority Monday evening. 

The Council also approved the airport levy at just over 2.9-cents per $100 of assessed valuation for the next year. That rate has been unchanged for several years. 

In other action Council members approved an ordinance to repeal telephone and cable television franchise agreements. Approval was also give to extending a Community Development Block Grant program end date, three months to December 31st and vacating an alley in the Gilligan addition while retaining a utility easement.
