Two Arrested Following Trespassing Report

(KNZA)--Two were arrested Monday afternoon in Jackson County following a report of a criminal trespassing.

Sheriff Tim Morse says deputies were dispatched to the area of the 18-thousand block of R.4 Road after a resident reported a car parked inside a fenced field.  The car was parked within a wooded portion of the field.

Morse says the reporting party confronted the man and woman in the car.  The man fled into the woods on foot and the female was taken into custody soon after deputies arrived.

A brief manhunt ensued, with the Kansas Highway Patrol and Potawatomi Tribal Police assisting

52-year-old Robert Neal Kirk, of Valley Falls, was located about two miles west of the original location and taken into custody.   He was booked into the Jackson County Jail for criminal trespass and interference with law enforcement.
 
The female suspect, 39-year-old Topeka resident Jessica Maxine Howard, was booked into the Jackson County Jail for possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, interference with law enforcement and criminal trespass.  Howard was also wanted on an outstanding warrant.
