(KAIR)--A Lansing Correctional Facility inmate has been sentenced to over four additional years in prison for escaping from custody last year.
The Leavenworth Times reports that 53-year-old Ronald Emons was handed a 50 month sentence last week in Leavenworth County District Court for a charge of aggravated escape from custody.
Emons walked away from the prison grounds while part of an outside work detail on July 7th of last year. At the time, he was in minimum security custody. Emons was apprehended just a few hours later at the front of Fort Leavenworth.
The new sentence will run consecutive to the one Emons is already serving.

He was initially placed on probation for the crime, but was transferred to the the Kansas Department of Corrections after he violated probation.
