Pawnee County Agrees to Purchase Motor Graders

(KLZA)-- The Pawnee County Commissioners have approved the purchase of two motor graders from NMC Inc. at a total cost of $373,600.  The machines will be financed through NMC Inc. for a period of four years.

A pair of 2015 CAT 12M3 graders will be purchased. Two graders will be traded in, a 1993 CAT and a 2002 John Deere. The bid also inclded a $16,000 parts credit to be used on any other machine the County owns. 

Murphy Tractor also submitted bids.

Following length discussion the Board accepted the Child Support Enforcement Contract between the County and Stephen J. Kariec for a two-year term. 

Pawnee County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Nancy Tilton met with Commissioners to discuss selling two decommissioned Crown Victoria patrol cars and three cages. The Pawnee County Shop also has a pickup to be sold.  The cages will be sold as scrap and the vehicles will be sold by sealed bid on September 1 at 9:30 a-m.

Pawnee County Clerk Candi Nicholas and Board Chairman Dennis Schaardt discussed the 2015-16 budget with the Commissioners provide preliminary figures.  

The Board approved use of the Courthouse grounds and basement October 10th for the Harvest Bash.  A radio tower agreement with Pawnee County Rural Water District #1 will be terminated.  The County will pay one-half-years fees of $300 per the agreement. 

Commissioners discussed appointing representatives for the Pawnee County Planning Commission Board, Board of Adjustments and RC & D Board.  The alternates will be asked if they would like to move into the permanent positions.  The appointments will be made during the next commission meeting.  

A public hearing was also scheduled for August 18th at 9:30 a-m to discuss the sale of and set a fair market value on County owned real estate.
