(KNZA)--A multi-county pursuit ended in Jefferson County Friday evening after the suspect crashed his vehicle.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says 43-year-old Wichita resident Marty Stowe was leading officers on the pursuit when he lost control of his car about two miles north of Grantville near the intersection of 79th and Detlor Roads. His car left the roadway and vaulted into a tree row shortly before 7.
Stowe was transported to a Topeka hospital with unspecified injuries. A passenger was also transported to the hospital with possible injuries.
The Patrol says the pursuit started in Lawrence in Douglas County.
The Lawrence Journal World reports a Lawrence Police officer and Douglas County Sheriff’s deputy were attempting to serve an arrest warrant on Stowe for a parole violation around 6:30 when he fled. Stowe allegedly struck the deputy with his vehicle before fleeing, injuring the deputy.
