Atchison Community Group Unites To Revitalize Park
07/27/2015

(KAIR)--A group of Atchison residents is coming together in an effort to revitalize the city's Jackson park.

The group, titled Young Atchison Making a difference, was formed in May to, as group member Casey Quinn says, to “generate some dialogue.” Quinn started asked questions about what people wanted to see done in the city and the feedback she received included the desire to have better parks, trails, and places to walk with their families. Using that information, the group decided to make the revitalization of Jackson Park their first project.

Quinn says that members will gather Saturday morning, August 8th at 7:00 to tackle various projects including landscaping, power washing and painting the shelters,  and cleaning the benches, picnic tables, and trashcans. The volleyball court will also be cleaned and have new nets installed, and the sidewalks and walking trails will be cleaned as well. The park's playground will also received some needed attention.

If you would like to help with the revitalization, Quinn says everyone is welcome to come on out and lend a hand.
