(Shubert)-- Indian Cave State Park will offer the ultimate mid-summer camping event – a Christmas in July themed weekend July 25th. Events will run from 9am-4pm.
Campers will be decorating their campsites trying to win the decorating contest and the chance to win some free camping. Scheduled events are a snow ball toss, paint and take home a ceramic Christmas ornament, and face painting. And of course, what Christmas celebration would be complete without a visit from Santa Claus? Kids can visit with Santa and make their early Christmas wishes known. Santa will not be wearing his winter outfit, but he will be wearing his summer suit complete with flip flops. The elves will be on the grounds with treats for the kids and the perfect opportunity to capture that special photo for your Christmas cards.
Other events scheduled are a Craft Fair, there will be a reindeer pellet round-up, antler ring toss, horse-drawn sleigh rides with the proceeds benefiting a local ‘Jingle-Bell Ride’ which delivers toys to local youth. A team competition for the ‘Yule Log Quest’ will be a fun family event. There will be a story teller and an opportunity to make old time Christmas ornaments and decorate a cedar tree. Continue the holiday magic and watch the evening movie “It’s a SpongeBob Christmas” being shown at the outdoor amphitheater.
Other events held all day Saturday and Sunday will be horse trail rides and living history demonstrations.
If the kids get too hot they can cool off under the giant water sprinkler or nibble on a sno-cone.
