(KAIR)--The city of Atchison has announced several street closures in preparation for the annual Amelia Earhart Festival, set to take place this weekend.
Main Street, from Fourth Street to Fifth Street was closed last Saturday so that preparations could be made for the festival carnival. River Road, from Atchison Street to Commercial Street, and Commercial Street from River Road to Fourth Street will close this coming Saturday morning at 6:00.
Fourth Street from Main Street South to Park Street will close Saturday afternoon at 4:00. However, traffic may still proceed north from Park Street for a right turn; and Eastbound on Atchison Street from Second Street will also close at that time. The South boat dock is also scheduled to close at 4:00. The North boat dock will remain open, but can only be accessed through Doniphan County.
Shuttles to and from the event are available at the Atchison Elementary School Satuday evening from 5:00 to 11:00.
