Falls City Councilman Questions Street Work Time Frame
07/07/2015

(KLZA)-- The Falls City Council Monday night received updates on various City Departments from City Administrator Gary Jorn. Jorn said the re-bid request for the water well project at Rulo will go out July 14th with the Board of Public Works recommendation for the Council expected September 8th.  Bids received earlier were drastically higher than what were anticipated for the project.

Following Jorn’s report, Third Ward Councilman John Vaughn asked about the timeline for street and parking lot overlays the city has contracted with the Herzog Company to do.  Jorn said the contract calls only for the project to be completed during the 2015 construction season. Vaughn says it should be done now, while the weather is hot, instead of waiting for cooler weather or after school starts.

Jorn said he would be trying to pin down a date with the company.

The Council approved extending a contract with Southeast Nebraska Development District from 120 days to 180 days for the Falls City Housing Authority for an environmental review.  A resolution was also approved to adopt the Nemaha Natural Resources District Multi-jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan. Jorn explained the agreement is required in order to receive disaster funds form FEMA, the City must have a mitigation plan.

A curb cut for a driveway at 1603 Fair Street was approved.
