(KAIR)--Former Atchison City Attorney J. David Farris was honored for his twenty five years of service to the city during a gathering at the Atchison City Hall Tuesday afternoon.
Farris, who stepped down last month, says he will miss the job. “Primarily, it's been a great job, and I am going to miss every person over here more than anything else.”
Farris' law partner, John Fresh, says that Farris exhibited many characteristics that allowed him to excel in his role as City Attorney such as his “years of experience with prosecution and dealing with people...whenever you have someone with that much experience, it makes things so much more efficient and so much more effective, they benefited in all kinds of ways from that.”
Former Mayor Dave Butler remembers how the city benefited from Farris' counsel. He says that “he did a great job for the city of Atchison, always gave us great advice, which is always what would you like to do?, and so we always got along very well. He made a good part of the team. His knowledge of what has happened in the past is going to be missed sorely, but if he is still in town, I am sure we can call him if we need him.”
Farris says that he is not retiring completely, and will continue to work in his private Atchison practice.
