(KNZA)--The 22nd annual Jackson County Relay for Life will take place this weekend.
The fund-raising event for the American Cancer Society will be held in the Jackson Heights High School gymnasium this year because the regular site, the Jackson Heights High School track, is being renovated.
The event will begin at 7 Friday evening and run through 1 o’clock Saturday morning. Participants will take turns walking, jogging or running around the track.
Highlights will include the Survivor’s lap to kick off the event, an auction, games beginning at 8:30 and a luminaria ceremony at 10. Luminaries will be lit using battery-operated candles. The names of those being honored will be read out loud. Luminaries are available for $10 each and may also be purchased that evening.
So far, 12 teams and 55 participants have raised more than $21,000 for the event.
