(KAIR)--The case of an Atchison man accused of child abuse has been continued.
34-year-old Christopher McNeal appeared in Atchison County District Court Monday afternoon, where Judge Martin Asher granted the continuance at the request of his attorney, Christopher Williams.
A new hearing date has been set for July 6th.
McNeal was arrested in February in Clay County, Missouri after a police investigation determined that he had allegedly caused serious injuries to the head and abdomen of a 2-year-old child.
Atchison County Attorney Jerry Kuckelman says McNeal faces a possible sentence of 31 months to 130 months in prison if convicted.
