(KAIR)--Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt has been elected Vice President of the National Association of Attorney General.
The Attorney General's Office made the announcement Friday, stating that Schmidt was elected to the position on Thursday at the organization's summer meeting. He will sit on the executive committee, and will assist in it's decision making.
Schmidt was nominated for the position by the attorneys general representing states in the Midwestern region including Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Missouri, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and Michigan.
Recent initiatives of the organization include combating human trafficking, protecting child safety, and protecting consumer privacy.
