(KLZA)-- The U.S. Postal Service has temporarily closed the Post Office in Sterling due to safety concerns with the building.
Tuesday all operations were temporarily moved to the Douglas Post Office. Temporary centralized mailboxes have been set up across the street from the Sterling Post Office. The boxes will be assigned, and keys will be distributed, hopefully by Thursday. Customers needing their mail sooner than Thursday will need to pick it up from the Douglas Post Office. A photo I.D. will be needed to pick up the mail.
The blue collection box outside of the Sterling Post Office will continue to be picked up on the regular schedule.
Postal operations were moved to Douglas because the Adams Post Office is too small to accommodate the added mail.
