(KNZA)--A Kansas City, Missouri man has been arrested in connection with a Brown County hit-and-run accident.
Sheriff John Merchant says a citizen reported a recent hit-and-run accident Sunday morning in the vicinity of the 15-block of Iowa Street, just outside the Hiawatha city limits.
From vehicle debris at the scene, which included a passengers side mirror, officers determined they were looking for a red passenger car with damage to the passenger side of the vehicle.
Brown County officers relayed the information to other officers while
searching for the vehicle. A short time later, Merchant says the vehicle in question was located by a Hiawatha police officer in the vicinity of the 100 block of Sioux.
Upon investigation by the Sheriffs office, 28-year-old Devon Campbell was arrested on charges of DUI, no proof of insurance, driving while cancelled, suspended or revoked, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident and illegal registration.
