Allegations Against St. Benedict's Abbey Abbot
06/05/2015

(KAIR)--In what is only being vaguely revealed as an allegation, St. Benedict's Abbey has announced that Abbot James Albers has taken voluntary administrative leave.

The Abbey, in a statement released Friday on kansasmonks.org, said that they have been informed of the allegation against Abbot Albers when he was a minor himself. During his leave, he will be restricted in his public exercise of priestly ministry outside of the Abbey in the Archdiocese of Kansas City, pending the outcome of a review by the Independent Review board of the Abbey. A review or investigation by civil authorities is also possible.

A phone call seeking additional information was not immediately returned.

Abbot Albers is the ninth Abbot of St. Benedict's Abbey and has served in that role since 2012.
